Switching up the color palette on Social Artworking Designs is simple and can really add to your options for parties.

Today we're bringing you an extra special design variation created by one of the Social Artworking consultants, Jim Jozwiak. Follow Jim and his studio, Art-n-Soul Social Paint Gatherings, online and on Facebook.

Jim swapped the wintery color palette of the original Woodland Fox design for a fabulous fall palette. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Social Artworking Colors Used:                                

Titanium White

Deep Red

Deep Yellow

Mars Black

Burnt Umber

Chrome Orange

Chrome Yellow

Green Oxide

Raw Sienna

TRANSFER PATTERN:
Trace and transfer the original pattern onto the canvas, omitting the scarf and ground line pattern details.

REVISED STEP ONE:
Use same brush, but Chrome Yellow instead of the original grey mixture, to paint background between the trees. Rinse brush.

Use same brush and Chrome Orange to blend down from the top of the canvas. Rinse brush.

Use same brush and Titanium White to blend up from the ground line. Rinse brush.

Use same brush to blend a second coat of Chrome Yellow from the center working up into the Chrome Orange to achieve a gradient. Rinse brush. Let dry.

STEP TWO THROUGH FOUR:
Complete as indicated on the original instructions to complete the fox and trees. Omit painting the ground pattern. Let dry completely.

ADDITIONAL PATTERN TRANSFER:
Download the PDF containing the design variation elements for fall Woodland Fox. Trace and transfer details onto canvas or simply use the pattern as a guide to freehand design variation elements onto the canvas.

 

REVISED STEP FIVE AND SIX:
Use No. 2 Round Brush and Deep Yellow to paint sunflowers and select design elements. See image for placement. Rinse brush.

Use same brush and Chrome Orange to paint the pumpkin and select design elements. See image for placement. Rinse brush.

Use same brush and Deep Red to paint select design elements. See image for placement. Rinse brush. Let dry.

Apply additional coats of paint as needed.

 

 

 

ADDITIONAL STEP:
Use No. 2 Round brush and Green Oxide to paint suggestions of green foliage interspersed to fill any remaining voids on the leaf garland. See image for placement.

Use same brush and color to fill in grass details. Rinse brush.

Use same brush and alternate the colors Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna, Mars Black, and Titanium White using the stipple method to paint the sunflower centers. Note: Concentrate the darker colors on the lower portion of the sunflower centers and the lighter colors on the upper portion of the sunflower centers to create shadows and highlights. Rinse brush.

Use same brush and alternate the colors Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna, and Mars Black to create rows of overlapping, short, curved strokes to create the pine cone. Use these same colors to paint the pumpkin stem. Rinse brush.

Use the same brush and Mars Black to paint fine lines along the lower edges of all leaves to add definition and shadows. Add details to the leaves and trees and shading on the ground beneath the fox and leaves. See image for placement. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.
