I have a rule about get togethers.....Absolutely no phones.  In my book, unless you're waiting for a transplant, there is nothing more important than the people you're spending time with.  That's why I love Social Artworking so much.  It's a chance to get together with friends without any distractions other than creating art, being together and of course drinking good wine.  The best part about it is that people don't even miss their phones!  They forget about them because they're so busy painting.....and they're enjoying it!

Last weekend I hosted several friends for a Social Artworking party in my back yard.  There were 3 paintings to choose from and plenty of wine, cheese and crackers to enjoy.  A few of my friends were a little skeptical at first, but after I explained the simple process, they were all IN.  Their favorite part was the transfer paper which turned their ultimate masterpieces into an easy-to-follow paint by numbers painting!

I think the most interesting (and wonderful)  thing about Social Artworking is how mellow everyone gets once they start working.  People are talking in a low tone of voice, almost whispering so as not to disturb the other peoples' process.  They start encouraging  and complimenting each other and all of a sudden you have this amazing, positive environment where people are actually communicating.

They are present and engaged and for a few hours,  a paintbrush is glued to their dominant hand instead of a smart phone.  What a beautiful thing to experience this day in age!

Here's some video from our party to enjoy!
