Note: You must purchase the original "Perky Penguin" design to complete this design variation.

Social Artworking Colors Used:

Titanium White

Mars Black

Bright Red

Cobalt Blue

Green Oxide

Yellow Oxide

 

Social Artworking Brushes Used:

¾” Flat

No. 2 Round

No. 12 Bright

No. 8 Bright 

 

Other Social Artworking Supplies Needed:

12” x 12” Social Artworking canvas, water basin, palette, stylus or pen, grey transfer paper, Social Artworking Marker 

 

Instructions:

TRANSFER PATTERN

Transfer original pattern without scarf or earmuffs. Trace starfish and sunglasses. 

REVISED STEP ONE

Use 3/4" Flat Brush to mix (3) parts Green Oxide, (3) parts Cobalt Blue, and (5) parts Titanium White. Use mix to paint bottom half of diagonal. (Use No. 2 Round Brush for smaller spaces, if needed.) Rinse brush.

Paint top half of diagonal in a mix of (1) part Yellow Oxide and (2) parts Titanium White. 

REVISED STEP TWO

Use No. 12 Bright Brush and Mars Black to paint outer body. Rinse brush. 

REVISED STEP THREE

Use No. 2 Bright Brush to paint horizontal stripes on bathing suit using a pink mix of (2) parts Titanium White and (1) part Bright Red and a light green mix of (2) parts Titanium White and (1) part Green Oxide. 

Use pink mix to paint starfish and green mix to paint sunglasses with No. 2 Round Brush. 

STEP FOUR

Follow the original instructions. 

REVISED STEP FIVE

Use No. 12 Bright Brush and Titanium White to paint face. 

While paint is still wet, use No. 12 Bright Brush and a very tiny amount of Bright Red and apply to cheeks. Blend to create soft pink by moving brush outward in circular motion. (You can also use finger to apply and blend cheeks, if desired.) Rinse brush. Let dry. 

Use No. 12 Bright Brush to paint half moon in mix of (1) part Titanium White and (2) parts Bright Red in center of belly. Paint a stripe of Green Oxide on edge making a watermelon shape. 

REVISED STEP SIX

Use No. 8 Bright Brush and Titanium White to paint highlights on head, wings, and toes. Refer to photo for placement. 

REVISED STEP SEVEN

Use Social Artworking marker to trace outside edges, including watermelon and starfish. Add detail to sunglasses (refer to photo for placement) and seeds to watermelon.
